Over 75,000 fans filled the Shoe last Saturday afternoon to watch Ohio State take on Tulsa. Among the many fans that filled the stadium was Buckeyes 2022 commit Kye Stokes out of Tampa, Fl.
Stokes made the trip up to Columbus after his high school football team, Armwood High School, defeated Strawberry Crest 40-0. Two things stood out to Stokes during his visit: the crowd’s energy and the team focus.
“What impressed me the most was the energy of the crowd, especially on third downs, but also how focused the team was,” he said. “I really enjoyed the game and learning how I fit into the defense.”
Stokes is rated as a three-star athlete on the 247 composite rankings and is game-changer for Armwood High School. The Hawks are 3-1, and Stokes is a big reason why. Despite the winning record, Stokes feels that there’s room for improvement where his game is concerned.
“I feel like I’ve been playing solid football, but I can play better,” he said. “There are some plays where I could have done better, so I think I can play better.”
The Hawks take on Steinbrenner High School in a non-district matchup on Friday night.
Buckeyes offer 2023 Florida four-star linebacker
Last week, the Buckeyes offered junior linebacker Lewis Carter out of Tampa Catholic High School in Tampa, Fl. He’s a four-star prospect in the 247 composite rankings and has offers from major Power-five schools.
Carter’s relationship with the Buckeyes is longstanding, and he fits the mold of the athletic, fast and physical linebacker that Ohio State looks to bring in the program. He was very excited to receive the offer from the Buckeyes.
“It was a great feeling,” Carter said. “I’ve been in touch with them since my freshman year.”
Carter’s recruitment is still fluid, and he admits that at the moment, he’s not sure where he’d put the Buckeyes in his recruitment. He said that he hopes that he can make it up to a game before the end of the season.
