The Ohio State Men’s Basketball team will open the 2021-2022 season as the No. 17 ranked team in the first Associated Press poll of the year was released on Monday.
Led by fifth-year senior Kyle Young and 2020-2021 First-Team All-Big Ten player E.J. Liddell, the Buckeyes will be competing in arguably the best conference in college basketball. The Buckeyes are one of the five teams in the Big Ten to be ranked in the poll. Ohio State came into last year’s season ranked No. 21 and finished as a No. 2 seed in the NCAA postseason tournament.
The Buckeyes face off against Ole Miss in a closed scrimmage this Sunday before hosting Indianapolis, a Division II opponent at Value City Arena on November 1 in an exhibition match.
The Buckeyes officially kick it off on November 9 as they take on Akron to begin the season at Value City Arena.
KenPom.com, which computes predictions for the NCAA basketball season, has Ohio State with a 21-9 overall record and 13-7 in conference play.
Gonzaga opened up at No.1 in the poll. The Big Ten was represented by Michigan at No. 6, Purdue at No. 7, Illinois No. 11, and Maryland No. 21.
