While most of Buckeye Nation is focused on the start of the college football season, there is news on the college basketball side of things too as the bracket for the 2022 Maui Invitational has been set and the Buckeye Men’s Basketball Team is set to take part in that annual event.

We have learned today that Ohio State will start action in Hawaii against San Diego State on November 21st at approximately 9pm (EST).

Ohio State’s game will be the third of the day after contests between Texas Tech and Creighton and then Louisville and Arkansas. Arizona and San Diego State round out the remainder of the field. The Buckeyes will draw one of those two teams in the final opening round game on day two.

It has been some time since the Buckeyes have taken part in this event, the last time was in 2003, but it will be the 4th time that Ohio State has been involved with previous appearances in 1993 and 1998. The Buckeyes have never appeared in the finals of this event in three previous attempts.

This opening round game will be the 4th all-time meeting between the Buckeyes and Aztecs of San Diego State with SDSU holding a 2-1 edge. The last time these two teams met was also in the Maui Invitational, back in 2003, a game that SDSU won, 83-61.
