COLUMBUS – Ohio State junior defensive Zach Harrison is out for today’s game against Tulsa and senior linebacker Teradja Mitchell is a game-time decision.
OSU released its availability report for today’s game and Harrison was a surprise entrant on the list. Harrison has seven tackles and a sack so far this year. Without him, the Buckeyes get quite a bit thinner at defensive end.
Expect Tyreke Smith and Javontae Jean-Baptiste to get the starts. Or perhaps even true freshman JT Tuimoloau.
Regardless of who starts, however, all of the above names will be in the rotation, along with true freshman Jack Sawyer, as well as possibly redshirt freshman Darrion Henry-Young.
Mitchell was also a late surprise appearance on the report. His status will be determined as the game gets closer to kickoff. Mitchell is currently tied for the team lead in tackles with 21. The Buckeyes have played a number of linebackers this season, so there would at least be some players with experience to turn to.
As expected, safety Josh Proctor is out today. Head coach Ryan Day announced that he will be out for the season following a leg injury against Oregon. There are a number of options to replace him, as Day has cited Bryson Shaw, Marcus Hooker, Kourt Williams, Ryan Watts, and more.
Also unavailable this week is running back Marcus Crowley, who took part in a big hit last week and had to be carted off of the field.
