    The Buckeyes needed a lot of chaos to shake things up in terms of the College Football Playoff and while there was some, there was not nearly enough. As a result, the Buckeyes will have to accept the consolation prize of going to the Rose Bowl (sarcasm font enabled).

    It was not long ago that going to Pasadena (Calif.) was the end-all for Ohio State and its fans but in the modern era of the College Football Playoff, if it is not a semifinals location, it has a bit of an anti-climactic feeling to it.

    Ohio State will draw Utah in the game, the champions of the Pac-12. The Utes beat Oregon, a team that Ohio State had a week two loss to, twice over the span of the last couple of weeks.

    Utah will be ready for the Buckeyes as whispers of this being a swan song for head coach Kyle Whittingham grow louder and louder.
