COLUMBUS — Ohio State opened their season with a 52-17 win over Big Ten foe Nebraska to open a season that the conference was once determined not to have.
It wasn’t the easiest of blowouts for the Buckeyes, and seemingly the harder that Nebraska tried, the larger the Ohio State lead got.
Nebraska opened the game with a 4-play, 75-yard touchdown drive that caught everybody by surprise, but most notably the Ohio State run defense.
The Buckeyes responded in kind with a touchdown drive of their own, capped by a 1-yard rush into the end zone from running back Master Teague. Ohio State went 76 yards on their next drive, which wrapped up with a 42-yard touchdown strike from quarterback Justin Fields to sophomore receiver Garrett Wilson.
Nebraska tied it up at 14-14 early in the second quarter via an 11-play, 78-yard drive. Ohio State’s ensuing drive ended with a 34-yard field goal to make it 17-14.
