COLUMBUS – This weekend’s recruiting visit trip by the South Florida Express 7-on-7 team was not only made up of uncommitted players with Ohio State commit Cedrick Hawkins taking part in the festivities.
The 6-foot, 165-pound safety puts in some serious drive time to be part of the SFE team, making the trip from Titusville (Fla.) to Miami, not only to play but to practice. That is 200 miles, each way.
That shows the dedication that Hawkins has to trying to better himself as a football player and that is something that Ohio State fans should expect when Hawkins signs with the class of 2023 in December.
For those that may not remember, Hawkins committed to Ohio State during the team’s Rose Bowl victory over Utah, 48-45. It was odd timing at the moment and obviously coaches were a little busy at the time that Hawkins went to social media to announce his decision. It was not the original plan, but things change.
