Ohio State sophomore forward EJ Liddell was named First-Team All-Big Ten on Tuesday. He was named to the coaches’ first team and to the media’s second team.
Also making both the media and coaches’ third team was junior guard Duane Washington.
Liddell leads the Buckeyes in scoring at 16.0 points per game, rebounding with 6.5 rebounds per game, and is also the leading Ohio State shot blocker with 26 swats. He was also named to the 2021 Naismith Award Midseason team and was recently added to the 15-member ballot for 2021 Wooden Award consideration.
The last Buckeye forward to be named First-Team All-Big Ten was Keita Bates-Diop in 2018. Liddell becomes the first sophomore forward from Ohio State to earn First-Team honors since Evan Turner in 2009.
Duane Washington is second on the team with 15.3 points per game.
“Congratulations to E.J. and Duane on their Big Ten All-Conference selections,” OSU head coach Chris Holtmann said in a university release. “I know both guys would be the first to appreciate the role of their teammates in these honors.
“E.J. has been instrumental and has grown as a sophomore in our success. I’m really proud and happy for him. Duane as well has been an important part of our team success. He has continued to grow and improve as a player and that is a credit to who he is and who he wants to be.
“Both E.J. and Duane love playing as Buckeyes and I know they are committed to working hard to continue to improve individually and as a team.”
Iowa big man Luka Garza was named Big Ten Player of the Year for a second-consecutive season.
