PLANTATION, Fla. — South Florida star Brandon Inniss has been a top Ohio State target since his sophomore year. The Plantation (Fla.) American Heritage standout made his way back to Columbus last month to check out spring football at Ohio State with several of his 7on7 teammates at the South Florida Express.
With his second trip to Columbus wrapped up, the five-star talent is getting more and more comfortable with the Buckeyes.
“The family environment,” Inniss stated on what stood out to him about his recent visit. “The practice was amazing, but I just never felt like I wanted to leave. It was like a home away from home.”
Inniss will be back at Ohio State soon for his third visit. This time it will be an official visit, the weekend of June 17th. Trips to Alabama and USC are also expected to take place with the Alabama visit scheduled for the weekend of June 3rd. That will leave Inniss with two more official visit slots if he wants to use them.
There isn’t much mystery left between Inniss and Ohio State at this point. This recruitment is one of the more hotly contested battles going on in the 2023 cycle, but Inniss is taking a pretty laid back approach to the upcoming official and he’s even looking at a fourth trip to Ohio State down the road.
“That (official visit to Ohio State) is just another thing to get closer to the coaches,” Inniss explained. “But what I really want to get to is a game. I want to see what the game environment is like.”
Ohio State is hoping that the consistency showed to Inniss throughout the process will pay dividends. The Buckeyes continued to pursue him after an early commitment to Oklahoma. The long-standing relationship with wide receivers coach Brian Hartline is driving this one for the Buckeyes.
“I think it’s just his background,” Inniss said of Hartline. “He made it to the NFL and he’s one of those guys that is putting guys into the NFL now. So really it’s just his background and his character. He’s a cool guy, he has a lot of energy when he coaches, and that’s what receivers like.”
