Ohio State men’s basketball coach Chris Holtmann and company have done it! They have landed their future center in the 2022 class after securing a commitment from four-star center Felix Okpara out of Hamilton Heights Christian Academy in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Okpara gives the Buckeyes something they desperately needed in this 2022 class — a definitive answer at the center position going forward.
Standing 6-foot-11 and weighing 210 pounds, Okpara is known as one of the best shot blockers in the 2022 class. Additionally, he has a rapidly developing offensive game with a smooth shooting stroke that can stretch out to the three-point line. He also possesses nice touch around the paint.
Holtmann along with assistants Ryan Pedon and Jake Diebler got to see it all first hand these past two weekends in North Augusta, South Carolina at the Nike EYBL Peach Jam.
However, those were not the only times that the Buckeyes got to see Okpara this summer, as they hosted the top-50 big man on an official visit last month. A visit that likely sealed the deal here for Ohio State and gave them a perfect fit at the center position in Columbus under Holtmann.
As for Ohio State’s 2022 class, Okpara gives them four total commitments and extends their lead as the number one recruiting class in the country. Okpara joins point guard Bruce Thornton and wings Roddy Gayle Jr. and Bowen Hardman in the country’s top class.
And with his commitment, the Buckeyes are down to a very select group of remaining targets in the 2022 class.
