COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State did not get the result they wanted Saturday afternoon against Oregon but it was still a productive day on the recruiting trail. Four-star Ohio offensive lineman Josh Padilla contributed to that productivity.

Padilla didn’t get much of a chance to talk to the coaches aside from a few fist bumps and handshakes. Instead, he used his time in Columbus to socialize with other recruits before and during the game.

Before kickoff, he spent most of his time talking with fellow Ohioans Sonny Styles and Luke Montgomery. The three are already close but Saturday gave them the chance to share their thoughts in person.

“It was good hearing their opinion on Ohio State and just seeing what they like about it and stuff like that,” Padilla told Buckeye Scoop.

When Padilla wasn’t with Styles and Montgomery, one could likely find him with current Wayne High School teammate Aamil Wagner, who is also a 4-star offensive lineman and Ohio State target.

“I basically spent most of my time with Aamil [Wagner] because they gave him tickets right next to us so I sat next to him the whole game,” Padilla said.

As for what Wagner and Padilla talked about all game, there wasn’t a whole lot said. The two could barely hear each other due to the crowd noise at Ohio Stadium.

“We had a conversation about how crazy it was, it was so loud we couldn’t hear each other,” Padilla said. “Like on third down when they called a timeout you couldn’t hear anything around there.”

With Padilla being an Ohio native and already holding an offer from the Buckeyes, he is someone the Ohio State coaching staff considers a priority in 2023. Expect the priority target for the Buckeyes to be back in the Horseshoe again this fall.
