Major Buckeyes Hoops Target To Decide This Week

It could be a big day later this week for the Ohio State men’s basketball team as one of the top targets is set to come off the board and many people feel that Chris Holtmann is going to be able to keep this player close to home.

Pickerington (Ohio) Central forward Devin Royal will make his decision known on Wednesday at 230pm (EDT) between choices of Ohio State, Michigan State and Alabama. The 6-foot-6, 210-pounder is rated as a four-star pretty much by everyone and is a top-100 level type of recruit.

The Buckeyes have been heavily involved in this recruitment for quite some time and have been considered one of the favorites for quite some time, but it was not until Royal really cut his list down to just three schools that people really started feeling like the Buckeyes would be able to make this one happen.

Royal’s Pick Central team went on to win the state of Ohio Division I championship defating Centerville. Royal had a game-high 20 points and 16 of those points came in the second half, helping his team defeat the previous undefeated Centerville team, 55-48.

One of Royal’s basketball teammates is a familiar name on the football side of things as Sonny Styles was a teammate. Styles is now already enrolled at Ohio State and about ready to go through his first fall practice period with the Buckeyes after enrolling over the summer.

Royal averaged 19.8 points per game along with 8.2 rebounds and 1.6 assists during his junior season.

The Buckeyes already had a pair of commits for the class of 2023 with guard George Washington III and center Austin Parks.

Keep it locked in here this week for more on this big-time announcement.
