Ohio State freshman guard Malaki Branham was named Big Ten Freshman of the Year on Tuesday by the conference’s coaches and media. The Big Ten also announced its all-conference teams, where Branham was named Third-Team All Big Ten this season.
Branham is averaging 13.2 points per game this season while shooting .491 from the field, .436 from three-point territory, and .818 at the free throw line. In Big Ten play, however, Branham is averaging 16.3 points per game and shooting .523 from the field.
Junior forward EJ Liddell was also named First-Team All-Big Ten, though he was not a unanimous selection by either the coaches or the media.
Liddell is currently averaging 19.4 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 2.6 blocks per game.
