Ohio State ‘At The Top’ For Nick James After Official Visit

Ohio State hosted a star-studded group of official visitors this past weekend and among them was Alabama-native and IMG Academy defensive tackle Nick James.

James is rated as a 4-star prospect and ranked 181st nationally by the 247Composite, holding offers from about 25 schools, including the likes of LSU, South Carolina, Oregon, Florida, Texas A&M, Alabama, Michigan, Auburn, USC, and many others, in addition to the Buckeyes.

This past weekend was James’ first time in Columbus and he certainly left with a strong first impression of what the program has to offer him.

“The visit was great,” he told Buckeye Scoop. “I love the coaches and the facilities. The coaching staff and the players were the highlight of the trip for me.”

To no surprise, the talented defensive tackle spent a lot of time with his potential future position coach, Larry Johnson.

“I spent most of my time with Coach Johnson,” James shared. “He was just talking about if you wanted to get developed this is the place to be.”

Coming away from the visit, where do the Buckeyes stand for James in his recruitment?

“They are at the top, most definitely,” he stated.

Later this month James will take an official visit to South Carolina with unofficial visits to UCF, Mississippi State, and Texas A&M. He’s currently planning to take more official visits this fall, with LSU and Oregon on tap for then. He shared thoughts on when he’ll make a college decision and what factors will play into that choice.

“I really haven’t decided when I want to make a commitment,” he responded when asked. “But the main thing I’ll look at when I do make my commitment is that I want to feel at home.”
