AJ Hoffler Talks Ohio State Visit, Landing Offer From Buckeyes

It wasn’t a list with tons of visitors like the Penn State weekend, but Ohio State hosted many quality visitors this weekend for their tilt against Michigan State.

One of the prospects who came to Columbus to experience the top 10 match-up and see what the Buckeyes had to offer was Atlanta (GA) Woodward Academy 2023 defensive end AJ Hoffler. The 6-foot-5, 245-pounder came into this trip with 30 offers and left with 31.

He discussed his visit experience and landing an offer from the Scarlet and Gray with Buckeye Scoop.

“It was awesome,” Hoffler said. “I got to the game, go inside the locker room, and tour the facilities, as well as take pictures.”

Hoffler also got to sit down with the staff, and it was then he landed his 31st offer from Ohio State.

“I spoke with Coach Johnson and Coach Sebastian and they said they loved my film and the tools I have,” he shared. “Then said they were going to offer me. It is my dream offer, so I honestly cried a little bit. It is huge to me to get an offer from Ohio State.”

As you would expect with a “dream offer”, the Buckeyes are now standing in a pretty good spot with Hoffler coming off this visit.

“Number one,” he responded when asked where OSU stands in his recruitment. “If I could commit to any school now, they would definitely be it. But I’m looking forward to a birthday commitment August 9 of next year (2022).”

While a decision won’t come for about 10 months, Hoffler was clear about what will be the deciding factor for him.

“The continued relationship building with the coaches, coming back for visits, and how my family feels about them,” he said.

As for Ohio State and making sure they check the boxes there, Hoffler says he’ll be back next for an official visit this spring or a trip before that in February.

Hoffler is a consensus 4-star prospect across all recruiting services.
