Top Running Back Cedric Baxter Updates Recruitment After Ohio State Visit

Ohio State played host to a number of big time prospects last Friday to Sunday, but right before the weekend another elite player in Orlando (FL) Edgewater 2023 running back Cedric Baxter made it to town.

The 6-foot-1, 215-pounder is one of the country’s most sought after talents, ranked 46th nationally by the Composite and holding over 50 offers, including one from Ohio State.

The visit gave Baxter a chance to see what the Buckeyes have to offer him.

“It was great,” he told Buckeye Scoop of his time in Columbus. “The highlight for me was getting to go out to dinner with Coach Alford and Treyveon Henderson. Ohio State is definitely up there for me after this trip.”

Baxter got the royal treatment while in Columbus, with every staff member pitching in.

“I spoke to every coach there,” he shared. “Their message to me was that I could really thrive in their offense and that I fit their scheme well.”

Baxter is still feeling out his recruitment. He hasn’t decided on any official visits yet, although he’s hoping to try and start sorting that out with his family over the next few weeks.

There’s also no timetable on his decision, but he does know what he’s looking for in his future home.

“I’ll make my decision whenever God lets me know that it is the right time,” he responded when asked. “The factors I will look at are who can develop me on the field as a player and off the field as a man and a person. I’m looking at who can get me ready for the next level after I’m done with college. I want somewhere that feels like family, and a staff that not only has a relationship with me, but also my family. And not just for the 3 to 4 years I am there, but for 40 years. I also want to go to a program that has a system that fits my skill set.”
