Ohio State is set to host a massive official visit weekend for many of their top class of 2023 prospects, but first the Buckeyes spent Thursday and half of the day Friday courting one of their top 2024 prospects in IMG Academy cornerback Ellis Robinson IV.
The Buckeyes recently made the cut down to 10 schools for the early 5-star prospect originally from Connecticut, joining South Carolina, Alabama, Georgia, USC, Oklahoma, LSU, Miami (FL), Penn State, and Florida. He had never been to Columbus before this trip, and it’s safe to say he liked what he saw.
“It was great, I had an amazing time there,” Robinson told Buckeye Scoop. ”I got tour the campus, meet the coaches, sit down and talk with Coach Day, and start to build a good relationship with people in the building.”
A key part of the visit was Robinson getting to sit down with the staff for the first time and getting to build a stronger relationship.
“I spoke with Coach Day, Coach Walton, and Coach (Miguel) Patrick”, he shared. ”I started to build a really good relationship with them while there. I feel really comfortable there.”
Following this visit, the Buckeyes definitely helped themselves in this recruitment.
“Ohio State is definitely one of the top on my list right now”, he responded when asked. ”This visit helped a lot. It was great.”
Robinson will likely get back to Ohio State next for a game in the fall. He is ranked as a 5-star, the No. 14 overall player, the No. 2 corner, and No. 6 player in Florida for 2024 per the Composite.
Ohio State did what they needed to here to get seriously into this one. I think UGA and Bama could end up being tough to beat but long way to go

Revising this. I might have OSU right behind UGA but ahead of Bama

Will he be sticking around for any of the weekend festivities (possibly rub some elbows with other big-time recruits and start building relationships) or is he already gone?

Gone

We seem to be getting ahead of Bama with a lot of these types lately. Is this a case of Walton and Eliano just out working them or just flat out better recruiters?

Not sure tbh. But right now OSU is beating Bama for Ellis. UGA May be tough with Fran brown

The Alabama coming on late thing is pretty annoying but true when you take into account the building relationships thing which s supposed to be so heavily weighed regarding recruiting. Very annoying when your on a kid for years building that relationship and then in the last hour Alabama comes calling and swoop in.

99% of programs say this about Ohio State lol
