CJ Heard Breaks Down Two-Day Visit To Ohio State

Already with 39 scholarship offers, Atlanta (GA) Woodward Academy 2024 safety CJ Heard came to Ohio State for a two-day visit this week.

The 6-foot, 200-pound receiver came to Columbus with his mother, and while he maybe didn’t get the offer he was hoping for, he still had a very positive experience with the Buckeyes.

“It was pretty cool,” Heard told Buckeye Scoop. “I’m going to get the offer soon. Coach wants to see me move around and stuff like that. I’ll either come back up for camp in the summer or they’ll see me in spring ball. But I really enjoyed the visit. It was top notch.”

Heard got to really experience everything and see what life as an Ohio State player would be like.

“I got to do a crazy photo shoot,” he shared. “I met all the coaches. I sat in the meetings with the safeties. The second day I basically did what a safety for Ohio State would do. I went through the day with them. It was pretty fun.”

Heard got to spend plenty of time with both new safeties coach Perry Eliano, as well as OSU head man Ryan Day.

“Coach Eliano kept it real and Coach Day kept it real,” he explained. The history for both of the coaches really explain it all, but on a personal level they are some cool dudes. Coach Eliano is a family guy and he likes to build a good relationship with his players.”

While the Buckeyes didn’t offer, it seems they could in the coming months. Where would they stand for Heard if/when that happens?

“High,” he responded without question, also mentioning he’s liking Florida State, Oklahoma, Michigan, Oregon, Arkansas, Kentucky, and Ole Miss as well at the moment.

Finally, he discussed his decision timeline and what he’s looking for in his future home.

“I’ll make a decision the summer after my junior year,” he said. “I’m looking for a place that is family oriented. It has to feel like home. I also want to play for a winning program.”
