One of Ohio State’s top overall targets in the 2023 recruiting class is IMG Academy wide receiver Carnell Tate.
The Chicago-native has been to Columbus to visit numerous times, and made his latest trip this past weekend to see the Buckeyes take on Penn State. It’s safe to say things went well in the eyes of the four-star prospect.
“It was great,” Tate told Buckeye Scoop. “The atmosphere (in Ohio Stadium) was outrageous. I’ve never been somewhere so loud and high energy. They team played well and ultimately were able to come out with the win.”
In addition to watching the game, Tate got to spend time with the OSU coaching staff.
“I spoke to almost every single person on the staff,” he shared. “The offense coaches were asking me what I’m waiting on (to commit).”
But it was Buckeye Nation which stood out the most.
“The crowd,” he responded when asked what separated this visit from others. “I’ve never been to another game where the crowd was this big.”
As far as where Ohio State stands in Tate’s mind, he didn’t want to tip his hand, but he does know when he’ll be revealing his college choice.
“OSU stands even with everyone else,” he stated. “This game definitely set the standard, though. All of the schools in my top 10 are still in high consideration.
“I’m looking around January to make my decision. The most important factors in that decision will be development and relationship.”
