Ohio State has been a top school for 2023 St. Louis (MO) DeSmet defensive back Christian Gray since they offered over this past summer.
Gray, a former teammate of OSU freshman corner JK Johnson, came back to Columbus earlier in the season for his first game in The Shoe. He made his third trip to Ohio State in just about four months on Saturday when he saw the Buckeyes beat Penn State.
“It was amazing,” Gray said. “It was a lot of fun. I got to talk to the coaches and also speak with JK and Cam Brown. It was fun to meet the other recruits and commits.”
Seeing the atmosphere of a night game in The Shoe as well as getting a better look at the program stood out to the four-star.
“It was amazing,” he said of Ohio Stadium. “The atmosphere felt so special, and it was exciting.
“I got to see more of the coaching staff and who they are on the field, and how the players are to each other when the game is on the line.”
After this trip, where do the Buckeyes stand for Gray?
“They are up there,” he stated. “In the top five.”
Gray isn’t sure when a decision may come, but Ohio State seems to be in great shape for some more visits before then, and the Buckeyes should be in this recruitment until the end. A big help for the program in their pursuit of the talented DB is having Johnson and Brown on the roster, showing the path to success from St. Louis in Columbus.
“It means a lot for Ohio State,” Gray told Buckeye Scoop about the STL connection. “It gives more of a relationship, like family. Those two guys taught me a lot.”
