Scoop Eats In Search Of The Best BBQ

SAN ANTONIO – Scoop Eats is back at it and when in Texas, let’s find some BBQ.

You can’t go far in this state without finding a place that claims to have the best brisket, sausage, pork around, but who can really deliver?

We have had our fair share of BBQ from across the country and plenty in the state of Texas and 2M Smokehouse is not a place that you would just stumble upon, someone has to tell you about it.

And if they do, consider yourself lucky with good friends because this place lives up to the billing. Scoop Eats has friends all over this country, all with great recommendations.

When we got into our Uber, the driver said that she had never heard of the place and was not even really familiar with many smokehouses in the part of the city that we were traveling to. It did make us take pause and then as we pulled up to the location, it’s unpaved parking lot and very little curb appeal, suspicions arose.

RELATED: Is this the top enchilada?

But when looking for great BBQ, it is not about what the place looks like on the outside, it is about the product that they deliver, and this place delivered.

We started out on the patio and worked our way to the screened-in porch as the Texas sun forced us to retreat to a more controlled environment.

From the mains to the sides to the deserts, this place had it all and then some. It is going to be difficult to go back to Ohio and its limited BBQ options, but those are the breaks when you are fortunate to travel the country and check out the best each region has to offer.

Join Marc Givler and Kevin Noon as they take the Scoop Eats camera to 2M Smokehouse and put the place up to the test.

What kind of slaw was that? Also, yes to the mac and cheese and street corn.
That was BuckeyeScoop.com's plate, that was a Mexican street corn.

On my plate, along with my sandwich and mac n cheese, there were pickles and pickled onions. It was all really good.

Must've been the pickled onions. I wonder if it's anything like the cucumbers and onions I grew up eating that was German in nature. Basically, it's cucumbers and onions in vinegar and sugar. Tastes a lot better than I make it sound.

Best BBQ?! Dang, starting a religious war on the Scoop!

For Beef, come to Texas. For Texas, come to Austin!

I lived in San Antonio the year 2M opened up. I ate BBQ all over the state and the only place that had better brisket in my opinion was Franklins. 2M is BY FAR the best in San Antonio and it was better than anywhere I have tried in Dallas, Lockhart or Austin (with the exception of Franklins)

Hey @Kevin_N glad you are enjoying San Antonio's weather and food! Me and Family will be at the All American bowl tomorrow!
it is a little chilly today. I fly home tomorrow so spent this morning trying to reassemble since I had to take my whole life with me being on tnt road for 12 days or something ridiculous like that.
