Ohio State went into Bloomington and, after an early trade of touchdowns, had no trouble bossing the Hoosiers around for the rest of the evening. Things might have stayed interesting a while longer if backup quarterback Jack Tuttle hadn’t gotten injured while throwing a first-quarter touchdown pass but probably not a lot longer. The Buckeyes were in no mood to fall into a trap or to endure a nervy ending on the road at Indiana.

Chip Minnich and I broke down Ohio State’s comprehensive road victory, review our score predictions (in which we once again underestimated the Buckeye offense and defense) against what happened, and checked in our picks to click to see if they did, in fact, click. Three out of four ain’t bad.

We were joined by Matt de Bear from Roar Lions Roar to preview Saturday night’s showdown with Penn State and to find out what in the tarnation happened to the Nittany Lions in Happy Valley this past Saturday against the Fighting Illini of Illinois. The Sean Clifford injury may take some of the luster off of what looked like a huge match-up between the Buckeyes and Nittany Lions. But, as Matt told us, Penn State has a strong secondary and a good overall pass defense and that — combined with an angry and cornered bunch of Nittany Lions — could make this a much more dangerous game for Ohio State than last weekend’s results might indicate. Big thanks to Matt for shaking off that 9-OT “thriller” and putting on his game face to talk OSU-PSU with us.

Aside from Illinois at Penn State, there was a light slate of Big Ten games this weekend and we walk through all of them. Purdue didn’t seem to want to suddenly be in the thick of the B1G West race after beating Iowa, as the Boilermakers went gently into that goodnight at home against Wisconsin. Northwestern only proved difficult for a half against Michigan as the Wildcats couldn’t sustain any offense with transfer quarterback Ryan Hilinski struggling to connect with his receivers. And, don’t look now, but Minnesota might once again be on the right track while Maryland continues to struggle after its strong start.

Finally, we get to our Ohio State picks to click and score predictions for the Buckeyes and the Nittany Lions.
