Well, both Chip Minnich and myself were pleasantly surprised to see the Buckeyes truck the Scarlet Knights in Piscataway on Saturday. Rutgers’ unwillingness to go away last year and the Knights’ second-half performance on the road in Ann Arbor last week seemed to indicate a more difficult road match-up than usual for a Buckeye team that has had some issues (to say the least) in 2021.
But nope. Ohio State took care of business early and emphatically in its 52-13 win on the road at Rutgers. Chip and I break down what we saw from the game and one of those things was that CJ Stroud can spin the ball a little bit when his shoulder isn’t bugging him.
We welcomed Sam Oshtry to this week’s show to help us preview this Saturday’s game against the Maryland Terrapins. Sam is a deputy editor over at Testudo Times and dropped a lot of knowledge on us about this weekend’s opponents. Big thanks to Sam for his time and his info on Maryland on both sides of the ball.
After our talk with Sam, we took a walk through this weekend’s Big Ten results, including several key games. Patterns are starting to emerge about the play of Wisconsin and Northwestern, while other teams are harder to get a read on, and nobody really knows yet if Sparty is for real after getting within one win of bowl eligibility.
Finally, we discuss Maryland’s offensive and defensive rankings and try to get a read on what that means for Saturday. Plus, we select our picks to click and give our score predictions for a game in which we’re not that sure what to expect. That all depends on whether Taulia Tagovailoa can rebound from a poor performance against Iowa.
Enjoy this week’s show. Thanks for listening.
