Top Ohio State Offensive Tackle Target Kiyaunta Goodwin Talks Recruitment and Dominates Best of The Midwest Combine

WESTFIELD, IN — The Best of the Midwest Combine is one of the top football camps in the country and draws top talent yearly. Which makes it a must-stop for Buckeye Scoop every year. This year we were met with some surprise when 2022 four-star offensive tackle Kiyaunta Goodwin out of Charlestown (IN) High School showed up unexpectedly. As a result, we got to catch up with one of Ohio State’s top offensive tackle prospects.

For those of you that are unfamiliar with Goodwin’s story, he has lost roughly 126 pounds since the start of his high school career and that weight loss not only reshaped his body but his recruitment. In speaking to Goodwin he has always had the mindset of being the top offensive tackle of the country and his frame now backs that up. To start our interview Goodwin talked about his weight loss and that alpha dog mentality. He also explained why he showed up to Best of the Midwest and how he embraces being a leader.

Regardless, the majority of our interview with Goodwin was centered around his recruitment. He talked about receiving all of these big-time offers during the pandemic. Goodwin also talked a lot about Ohio State and how they fit into his recruitment. This is what he had to say about his ties to Columbus and why that puts the Buckeyes near the top of his list.

“Yeah, I have a lot of family up there. You know I have a lot of family in a lot of places. My family, they come around all the time, I love my family,” Goodwin said. “Just being able to be somewhere that’s like a home away from home has always been a thing for me. You know that’s one of my biggest that I’ve always said that’s part of my decision is being able to be home away from home.”

For everything Goodwin had to say about the Buckeyes and his relationship with offensive line coach Greg Studrawa, click the link below!

However, the day for Goodwin did not stop with just interviews. He was somehow able to borrow a pair of size 15 cleats, grabbed a penny, and took a handful of reps in 1-on-1s. Goodwin went on to win every rep and looked very fluid in his pass set. And you can find all of Goodwin’s reps from Best of the Midwest below!

This kid is a monster. Saw some of his workout film and he is just man handling kids. He should definitely be at the top of the big board for coach Stud and staff.
