HUBER HEIGHTS — High school basketball in the state of Ohio is off and running with many of the top teams in the state playing multiple times a week. One of those top teams in none other than the Warriors of Wayne High School in Huber Heights. The Warriors are led by a bevy of college basketball prospects and even some college football prospects. And while their basketball prospects take center stage you can not help but notice their 6-foot-7 center Aamil Wagner who is also a four-star offensive tackle.
Once the game was over we had the chance to catch up with Wagner on a number of different topics. Before we got into his recruitment Wagner talked about why he chose to play basketball during the offseason. After that, he touched on what else he is working to improve on before his final high school football season. Finally, Wagener gave us a glimpse into his recruitment by telling us what schools are on him the most and what school may be sending out an offer in the future. And one of those programs was the home-state Buckeyes.
Wagner is one of the top players in Ohio for his class and is in contact with the Ohio State coaching staff on a regular basis. He also hears from captain Buckeye and Dayton native C.J. Hicks very often. This is what he had to say on Hicks’ message, “Actually, I grew up with C.J so he and I came from a smaller league called the MBC he played for Dayton Christian, I played for Yellow Springs so I have known him for a long time. Every Time I get an offer he is always the first in saying ‘Buckeyes moving in’ and things like that. He stays recruiting, I listen to him, and good friends get that connection.”
If you would like to hear Wagner’s thoughts on Ohio State, his relationships with the coaching staff, and more head over to the link below for the full interview. Don’t forget to like the video and subscribe to the Buckeye Scoop YouTube channel.
