West Virginia Guard Sean McNeil Announces Transfer To Ohio State

West Virginia guard Sean McNeil has announced via social media that he has committed to Ohio State.


One day after missing out on a transfer from Kansas State guard Nijel Pack, Ohio State head coach Chris Holtmann added the 6-foot-3, 210-pound McNeil out of Morgantown.

McNeil averaged 12.2 points per game as a senior this past season. He connected on 36.8% of his three-point attempts. He also scored 12.2 points per game as a junior.

McNeil is a Union, Kentucky native who played junior college basketball at Sinclair Community College in Dayton, Ohio where he led the nation in scoring as a true freshman at 29.7 points per game. He had two games of 55 points scored that season as well.

After his freshman season at Sinclair, McNeil made the move to West Virginia. In his first season with the Mountaineers he averaged 5.5 points per game.

McNeil hit the 20-point mark three times this past season, including a season-high 26 points in a win over Kansas State.

McNeil is more of a shooter than a distributor — as evidenced by his five total assists in his final five games at WVU, but he will provide some needed ball handling for the Buckeyes next season.

Good get. Would still like to see a wing added to the class.

I think we have room for one more transfer? I was expecting it would be a big, but now not so sure. The comments here seem spot on. Might be best if the final spot is a point or combo guard at worst. We can use versatile guys in the front court to create depth there. They don't always have to be true post players. We NEED another point.
