COLUMBUS – Ohio State recruits the best players in Ohio, and while it’s early, Unioto’s Tayvion Galloway has a chance to be one of Ohio’s best in 2024.
Two early offers are already in for Galloway from Buffalo and Bowling Green State University. The 6-foot-5 and 215-pound two-way prospect also has a handful of visits planned for the fall, but last Saturday he was in Columbus when Ohio State took on Tulsa and that visit went well.
“I mean it was nice. It was especially great to be at a college I saw a lot growing up,” Galloway told Buckeye Scoop. “Obviously growing up in Ohio everyone preaches Ohio State, Ohio State so it just was great to be there.”
Galloway admitted that growing up he rooted for the Buckeyes so getting to go to one of their games as a recruit was a special experience for him.
“It was just a great feeling,” he said. “I’m obviously just fortunate and blessed to be able to have this opportunity at this young of an age but yeah it was great.”
At this point, Ohio State has not put much effort into in-state 2024 recruits, but Galloway is one guy they wanted to get on campus. And he sees the early attention from the Buckeyes as a reason to keep up his hard work.
“I am just fortunate and blessed,” he said. “It’s an amazing opportunity. I’ve just got to stay humble and just keep working.”
With that hard work could potentially come an offer from the Buckeyes, and if it did, it would be just as special for Galloway’s whole family
“It would mean a lot especially coming from one of my favorite college teams growing up,” he said. “All my family used to watch them every weekend, it would mean a lot.”
Saturday’s visit for the Tulsa game was Galloway’s first visit to Columbus but far from his last. He is already talking with the Ohio State coaches about getting up to Columbus again.
“After the game I spoke to coach Wilson and he told me he would like to get me up there around December or January to visit the campus.”
When it comes to the 2024 class, there is a long way to go. They are just sophomores, after all, but initial evaluations are being done and Ohio State is doing theirs on Tayvion Galloway. Odds are the talented sophomore will be in Columbus a few more times in the coming months as that evaluation continues.
