TOLEDO – The Findlay Trojans are enjoying one of their most successful football seasons in recent memory behind the Montgomery brothers. Luke, a 2023 prospect, plays offensive and defensive line for the Trojans while Ryan, a 2025 prospect, is the team’s starting quarterback.
Both have a handful of big-time college offers, but as of today Luke is the only one with an offer from Ohio State. In all, the eldest Montgomery brother has 33 offers from colleges all over the country which has caused college coaches to flock to Findlay to get their eyes on the 6-foot-5 and 260-pound prospect.
While Luke can not interact with the coaches directly, he still enjoys seeing them come through Findlay both for himself and the whole Trojan football program.
“It’s awesome being able to see them. Obviously, just the promotion for the school and stuff is awesome too,” Montgomery told Buckeye Scoop. “I know coach [Stefan] Adams loves that, he just eats that up, so any time he gets to talk to a coach he is always doing that.”
Michigan, Penn State and Notre Dame all had coaches stop by Findlay last week, but only one college had a coach on the sidelines for Findlay’s rainy Friday night game at Toledo St. John’s Jesuit, and that was Ohio State. Tight ends coach Kevin Wilson was in northwest Ohio to see Montgomery play in-person, and with the ties he has to the family, that was another interesting experience for Luke.
“That is awesome. I mean coach Wilson he’s great, I know my dad was coached by him and it’s pretty cool that he’s still coaching and I could possibly be part of his program someday,” said Montgomery
Montgomery has been on the road this fall. He was in Columbus earlier this season when the Buckeyes hosted Oregon. Additionally, he will be at Ohio State later this month when Penn State comes to town, and he will see the Buckeyes take on Michigan to end the season.
Needless to say, Montgomery has watched a good amount of Ohio State football this fall and he will see them even more, but still he likes what he’s seen thus far.
“I thought they played great so far. I mean they are learning a lot, they are a young group and the offensive line is great so far,” said Montgomery. “They’ve really picked it up these last couple of games and are just going to keep getting even better.”
With an end in sight for his high school season, Montgomery and his family plan to get back out on the road. Starting with Notre Dame this Saturday, then Ohio State, Alabama, Penn State, Clemson and Michigan in that order.
As a result, don’t expect a decision from him anytime soon, but his interest in the Buckeyes remains high as ever.
