Hi all,

My name is Vidya - 1987 OSU grad (hence my handle "GoBucks87"). I have lived in the Seattle area for the last 25 years, and work for a major e-commerce company here (easy to guess). Fun facts about me (a bit long - bear with me please):
  • I am from India, and didn't care about OSU football my freshman and sophomore years
  • junior year 1986, my friends convince me to join them by buying a student season ticket (CHEAP - $ 50 for the full season, and our seats were on the 40 year line)
  • first home game....a SEA of red (!), the band marches across the field, followed by the cheerleaders and the team. I still didn't know what football was, but I was hooked for life :)
  • senior year, I intentionally delayed graduation so I can get one last quarter (Fall quarter 1987) to see OSU football
  • Jim Harbaugh broke our hearts in THE GAME; we missed a tying field goal in the final minute after being initially up 14-0 and tSUN went up 23-20. I have hated Harbaugh since then (so it's been sweet to kick their butts the last few years with him as their head coach)
  • superior talented OSU teams kept losing to tSUN in the 90s under Cooper, breaking my heart many times (esp. the Shawn Springs slip/game). I will never get tired of beating tSUN. No payback is sufficient for what happened in the 90s!
  • attended the Rose Bowl in 1997; David Boston caught the winning TD right in front of us in an amazing finish. Go see the Rose Bowl (with full attendance once in your lifetime)
  • was in Europe on assignment, listening to a radio broadcast over the internet when we beat Miami for the title in 2003. What a thrill!
  • attended the title game against Oregon in 2015; went to Dallas with no ticket, prices wouldn't fall even by mid day game day; ended up paying $1500 for one ticket on the 40 yard line (buckeye sideline) - WORTH EVERY PENNY; thrill of a lifetime to see the Bucks win the national championship, culminating the miracle ride from the Big 10 championship and beating 'Bama in the Semis. Indelible memory of our fans (who dominated the crowd that day) chanting "ZEEEEEEKE" towards the end. That chant will be ringing in my head till the day I die. Zeke Elliott will forever be my favorite Buckeye of all time.
  • Was vacationing in Mexico a year ago during the Clemson game; was burning for a whole year on how the refs and circumstances took the win away from us. A cathartic win like no other when we crushed them last week.
  • Don't know what will happen against Bama, but I know this team will "fight to the end for O-HI-O"; I will be there will them now and forever. There's nothing like being a Buckeye fan.
  • Last but not least - I am big fans of Gerd and Tom Orr from the Ozone; Happy to follow them here. Love your podcasts. Am now a proud member of Buckeye Scoop. This site and community are AWESOME.
