First of all, I would like to explain myself. I am a lifelong Spartans fan, who received the Go Blue Guarantee. Although it hurt me, I made a decision 3 years ago to follow the money. I have kept my true allegiance a secret, as I am a sports management major, and worked my way into a student staffing job with the football team. It's good experience for my resume, and it's a pretty easy job. I mostly just do grunt work that higher staffers can't be bothered doing. Player tutoring, weight room cleanup, translating Tress' terrible handwriting into google calendar events, that sort of thing. As such though, I have heard a lot that I probably should not be privy to, and I felt it best to share it here as well as DMing it to some other insiders. Here's the situation:
1. There is a sense of dread amongst the higher-ups. They put on sly confident faces for the camera, but in the background they are panicking. Have heard discussions of a 'break-away' though am unsure what this refers to, I know for a fact that there are contingency plans, and more people are ready to take the fall in order to keep the structure in tact.
2. Full vacation is underway. They have already given up on this front. Calculus in AA is that plenty of very recognized titles are technically vacated and no one really cares. They are hoping that by giving this the NCAA will leave them alone.
3. Michigan continued to sign steal after Connor Stallions was fired. I have it on very good authority that a Michigan Staffer was present in Columbus for Minnesota filing the sidelines. No more tractability, the publicizing of the investigation was a wakeup call not to stop the behavior, but to be a lot smarter about it.
There is more, but that is all I will divulge for now. This was never an even game, 2020 broke this program and since then its been do or bust. I can't speak to what goes on in your program, or others, but if you're even close to painting inside the lines, than you will not face an even matchup vs Michigan. They think they can get away with anything, and honestly if there's one thing I have learned being in AA for these years, its that if anyone can, its them. I believe the NCAA will hold serve one last time and bring down a hammer like they haven't laid in years, but I could be wrong. Buckle up folks, this is a battle for the integrity of the entire sports world at large.
